4 New and Improved ways to access the Pikes Peak MLS for Colorado Springs REALTORS®

There has been some frustration about the limited ability for Mac users, limited ability for smart phone users and/or those who just don’t like Internet Explorer to access the Pikes Peak MLS for Colorado Springs REALTORS®. Our local board is making some strides with this and I will be mentioning these below along with a few other ways to access the MLS that have been around for a little while…

Here are those new (and some not new) solutions that can alleviate these following frustrations:

You don’t like Internet Explorer and want to use another browser

(these solutions are for windows users only)

1) Open the Pikes Peak MLS in Google’s Chrome Browser–

This is an extension on Chrome that allows you to open up any web page in an “Internet Explorer(IE)” type of way. I won’t go into all of the technical stuff about it, but you will be able to open those websites(i.e. the PPMLS) that require IE, directly in Chrome without having to open IE. To get started, follow the directions below.

1) Download Chrome and install it.

2) Watch the video tutorial on how to install the IE Tab extension for Chrome.  Here is the direct link to Chrome’s extension IE Tab

2) Open the Pikes Peak MLS in Firefox–

This is the same as above with Chrome, just using Firefox instead. Again, to get started, follow the directions below.

1) Download Firefox and install it.

2) Watch the video tutorial on how to install the IE Tab 2 Extension for Firefox.  Here is the direct link to Firefox’s Extension IE Tab 2

You are a Mac user and want to access the MLS without using a Windows Virtual Machine

Pikes Peak RSC just rolled out a new way to access the MLS from your Mac directly and natively.  It is called Informix IDS. You do not need to use any Windows Virtual Machine like Parallels or VM Ware. I have provided a video tutorial for you below on getting it running on your Mac!

First of all, go to http://ids.marketlinx.com/nativemac.html to get the software for download.

Also, here is a FAQ about using the IDS. This goes over some issues about how to print and upload content for listings. Here are the credentials for logging into the system for easy access. (you’ll see in the video where these are input)

A few issues I’ve noticed:

1) I have to keep putting in the credentials mentioned above even though they say you should only have to do it a maximum of 3 times.

2) There is a mention of a Safari plug-in, but I cannot seem to find one anywhere.

You want to access the MLS information on the road from your Smart Phone or from any browser on any machine

Users can now access the information of the Pikes Peak MLS through the website PPMLSAnywhere.com.  You can access it from any browser on any operating system including those on any smart phone. This is an upgrade of the CCMLS system.

So, how would you use this? One way… If you need to get more info on that listing that your buyer happened to point out while you were driving around with them, you can now do that through this(if you didn’t already have the REALTOR.com iPhone app). Also, many smart phones give you the ability to bookmark a webpage directly to your home screen for easy access.

Finally, here is the direct quote about the upgrade from PikesPeakRSC.com

“RSC has upgraded the CCMLS system for cross-platform/cross-browser functionality, and is now called PPMLSAnywhere. Now you can quickly search and retrieve any PPMLS listing in the Full format, or email the Customer report to clients, all from your smart phone! While viewing a listing you may “Map Neighbors” and see Active or Off Market listings in the surrounding area (approximately one mile square with the subject property in the center). Limited Metrolist and IRES listing information is still available, as well.”
